The time that has already gone is considered as past and the science that tries to understand the past happenings or events is called 'history'. History is considered to be a scientific discipline.

Ancientobjects,structures,sculptures,pots,coins,inscriptions,books,copper plates, manuscripts, traditional stories, art, culture are sources of history. These sources are divided into-1. Material source, 2. Written source, 3. Oral source.

History is classified into the 'Three Age system' by Christian Thomsen i.e.1.Stone tools-Stone Age, 2. Copper tools and copper articles-Copper Age. 3. Iron tools and Iron articles-Iron Age.

Thus, the study of history makes it possible for us to study what is and what is not favorable for the progress of human society. History thus provides us with the guidelines about how we should behave today to shape a good future.
