6->7 Scheduling Info and Documents

February 11, 2026: SMS Counselor Visit to OMS to present scheduling information to sixth graders during the school day. Students will learn how to enter choices for World Language and Music into PowerSchool. Students should bring their Chromebooks to their team scheduling session.
February 11, 2026: SMS Orientation Night for PARENTS and STUDENTS of current sixth graders. 6:30 pm in the SMS Gym. The evening program is for parents and students. We will go over information shared with students earlier in the day and allow for time to explore the building.
February 10-18, 2026: Sixth graders enter choices for World Language and Music into PowerSchool. Students can make changes to their selections in PowerSchool through February 19th. Parents will have the option to request changes later this spring.
April 1, 2026: Parents will receive information about recommended core course placements for sixth graders and the directions for requesting changes if needed.
May 1, 2026: Course change requests due (via link shared in April).

8th to 9th Grade Scheduling

Scheduling Information and Timeline for 8th graders for SHS Classes in 2026-2027:

January 9, 2026: Rick Nowak to SMS to present information and to provide course selection sheets. Students must bring their Chromebooks to access the Program of Studies online. Three presentations in SMS Lecture Hall:

PER 1: 8 West 8:40-9:25, PER 2: 8 North 9:28-10:08, PER 3: 8 East 10:11-10:51.

January 12, 2026: SMS will send an email to parents of 8th grade students with information about scheduling and to inform them that students will be bringing home their list of recommendations for ninth grade core courses which will be distributed to students during 8th period.

January 15, 2026: 8th Grade Parent & Student Orientation at SHS Auditorium, 6:15 p.m. Students and their parents are encouraged to attend!

February 13, 2026: SHS counselors/administrators at SMS to facilitate online scheduling in alpha groups. Students bring completed course selection sheets and Chromebooks to sessions. G8 Teachers will share times and room assignments with students.

May 11, 2026: Last day for SHS schedule change requests without a WD on SHS transcript. Due by 3pm.
