Dear Lakeview Families,

On behalf of the Lakeview/SIS PTO, we would like to welcome you to Lakeview Elementary as your child starts his/her journey in the Solon Community School District.  Please know that we are here to support and assist your family in any way we can.  Always feel free to contact us with your questions, comments and concerns.

As we look ahead to the 2023-2024 school year, we invite you to get involved in your Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The rewards of volunteering include getting to know the teachers and staff while also meeting fellow parents and students. Parents can help at many Lakeview and SIS events such our Fall and Spring Book Fairs, Staff Appreciation luncheons, Win With Reading Program, and our annual Spring fundraiser, a family obstacle course called Spartan Dash. These are just a few of the ways to contribute and get involved. You can join PTO during school registration for the 2023/24 year. Membership is $10 per year and you will receive a copy of the student directory with your membership.

Traditionally, to help offset budget cuts and to supplement resources for our staff, PTO has sponsored two fundraising events during the school year. After analyzing ways to create revenue without "over-selling" products to the same audience, we are continuing to grow a program in the Solon Community with our SCRIP program.  SCRIP is a gift card purchasing tool. Participating retailers agree to sell gift cards to our organization at a discount. You buy the cards for full face value and redeem them for full face value.  Our school keeps the difference as revenue.  The more families we have participating the more money our organization makes!  It’s that simple!

Proceeds from these fundraisers over the past few years have been used to provide essential resources for our school, such as iPads in every classroom, funds to send children on field trips and supplemental teaching materials. In light of state budget cuts, we anticipate our PTO will need to do even more for our school in order to sustain our current level of excellence. Thus, your family's support will greatly aid in our efforts to continue to fund requests made by the staff on behalf of our children.  If you were to ask us why we are involved at Lakeview in our current roles, it would simply be because we want to take an active role in our children's school and education.  This is our school.  Involvement in PTO is the best way to be directly involved with ideas and decisions that provide an enriched and successful education for your student. Your contributions of time and talent are needed now more than ever!
