Kunstlerdorf Schöppingen

This Sunday, accompanying the launch of the KD library project by Vera Vorneweg and Outdoor oral history project by Grashina Gabelmann I will br presenting works produced through my period of residence at Kunsterldorf Schoppingen. On show will be two film works, Devotional and Das Hinterniss, a large scale fabric work dyed using gleaned maize leaves following industrial maize plantation harvest, and a series of photographic works.

Nocturnal Voices

Kunsthuis SYB and the Tropical Greenhouse join forces for a collaborative presentation in the atmospherically lit greenhouse complex. The evening is curated by Kunsthuis SYB and features two films by former residents Sol Archer and Olivia D’Cruz and a special performance by guest artist Selma Selman.

I will be leading a workshop and practical seminar on Ethnofiction and the potentials of fictional forms in collaborative ethnographic based works for the Masters Artistic Research program at the KABK, den Haag.

Between August 01 and October 25 I will be on residency at Kunstlerdorf Schöppingen, in Germany. Here I will be thinking in sonic ecologies, landscape making, material experimentation, and foraging, and listening a lot to maize about the superposition of colonised lifeways in industrial agriculture.

The artists in Sustaining Small Acts develop their work from the connection with their physical environment. Their work often springs from what they find close to home, in the material of their daily surroundings: their own household waste, the weeds in the city, the ground under our feet. This everyday material is entwined with fundamental questions. Questions about humans as the only animals that foul their own nest, with planetary consequences.
