Welcome to Physics 1!
Physics is a natural science concerned with the universal laws that govern matter, energy, space, and time. More specifically, it's concerned with how matter and energy interact with each other. Discoveries in physics resonate throughout other natural sciences, and physics is described as the "fundamental science" because other fields such as chemistry and biology investigate systems whose properties depend on the laws of physics.
In Physics 1, we will be primarily concerned with MECHANICS, the branch of physics that’s focused on the motion of objects in the presence or absence of a force or multiple forces
I can develop and/or make use of modeling to… explain the motion of objects and interactions between/among objects
I can develop a claim with reasons based on multiple pieces of evidence…and supported by relevant physics laws/reasoning
I can collect, organize, represent, and analyze data in meaningful ways (tables, graphs, equations, etc)
I can plan and carry out scientifically sound investigations
I can research, describe and communicate scientific concepts (as evidenced by content-specific Unit outcomes):
