April 2023: Look at what we are learning!
We completed Unit 11 and are now learning about words with two syllables in Unit 12. Students are learning two-syllable words with closed syllables and vowel-consonant-e syllables.
March 2023: Look at what we are learning!
We have wrapped up Unit 10 and now have started Unit 11. Your child will be learning a new syllable type in this unit. We will learn all about the vowel-consonant- e syllable. This just means when an e is added to the end of a word, it can change the short vowel sound to the long vowel sound. I have included some videos and games below for your child to explore.
February 2023: Look at what we're learning!
Wow!! The students rocked Unit 9, so we are moving on to Unit 10! In this unit, we will be segmenting and blending words up to 5 sounds. We will also practice adding the suffix -s to words with 5 sounds. Students will start using the suffixes -ed and -ing to closed syllable words. We have completed Unit 8 and now moving on to Unit 9. In Unit 9 we will learn about closed syllables and be introduced to vowel teams. Click on the parent letter to fully understand what your child is learning.
We are continuing with Unit 8. Students will continue learning the difference between a blend and a digraph. In this unit, we will focus on digraphs blends. Students will also continue learning the r-controlled vowel sounds. These are ar, or, er, ir, and ur.
