Soccer has always played a central role in my life. At the age of five, I started playing at my local club in the Netherlands. If I wasn't at my local soccer club, you could most likely find me in the streets somewhere playing with my brother and friends. Throughout my childhood, it was always my dream to become a professional soccer player. Was it realistic that I would become a pro? No, not really, to be honest. However, this dream was influencial to my growth. Having the dream is much more than achieving it. It instilled discipline in me, taught me how to work hard, and it made me a better person.
After playing for my hometown team as captain, and obtaining my UEFA Coaching License, I was fortunate enough to be offered a full-time position as a coach in the USA in 2010. As a coach, I moved up quickly to Program Director, and eventually to be the Director of Coaching and oversee a soccer program in NY, with hundreds of children that shared the same dream as I had. Some of those children are now young adults and are playing for different colleges all over the USA. Regardless of whether or not they will become professional soccer players, I know these children will be successful in life.
The game of soccer is so much more than just a game. My dream now is to have a positive influence on children's lives. Is that realistic? Yes, and I am very excited to be working with your child!
