(LXMP: Learning Experience Management Platform)

Designing Human-in-the-loop Learning System with Hybrid Feedback to Promote Genuine Learning
Human learning necessitates extensive practice. However, with the advent of Generative AI, a substantial portion of the effort traditionally associated with learning has been delegated to AI. This delegation consequently leads to AI-dependent cognitive offloading. To address this phenomenon, we propose and validate an LLM-based learning system that leverages the agency of both students and teachers. We investigated the interactions of the teacher and forty high school students (20 students in each group) with this Human-in-the-loop learning system over a period of three weeks. The experiment was conducted based on a quasi- experimental design, dividing two groups according to the presence or absence of human teacher feedback. Our study focused on how these learning experiences influenced their agency, learning experience and learning outcomes. Students expressed satisfaction with the immediate feedback from the LLM, and they reported that secondary feedback from teachers on areas of weakness improved their learning effectiveness. Based on these findings, we discuss the implications for designing user interfaces that enable users to learn new domains more effectively.

(Learner-Centered Instructional Design Support Platform)

Leximate: AI-based Dyslexia Screening & Intervention Platform
LexiMate, a dyslexia support system for children ages 6-8, was developed to address the practical (high cost, difficulty in early diagnosis) and methodological (arbitrary classification) limitations of existing diagnostic and intervention methods for dyslexia, which is characterized by phonological processing issues. The goal is to build a comprehensive end-to-end system that integrates screening and intervention. The system architecture consists of two phases: Detection and Intervention. In the Detection phase, multimodal data, including questionnaires/checklists, eye tracking, and handwriting, are collected via a mobile app. Features are then extracted using a Hybrid CNN-Transformer and Graph Transformer Network, followed by an XG-Boost-based classifier for accurate and early detection. Future plans include combining the detection results with Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to provide a diagnostic report. Furthermore, the system will develop a personalized LLM-based chatbot that precisely diagnoses each child's unique challenges based on screening data. This will enable the development of an intelligent support program that provides tailored, interactive remedial exercises across four core areas: anchoring/leaping, reading, and writing.
