A note from the judging panel: 

Be sure to include information like (depending on award questions):

-examples! We can't stress this enough - you are doing wonderful things, talk about them!-show how your school nutrition program is involved within your community -tell us how you are promoting your program to your students and families-include data, if possible (for example, before/after a specific incentive/program, etc.)

Remember - the panelists do not know the names of the nominees and only know what is written, so be sure to paint a vivid picture!

This award is presented to a school, district, or office whose current regular food service personnel are ALL certified through SNA.

This award is presented to a school, district, or office whose regular food service personnel are ALL SNA members (as of December 31st).

Administrator of the Year Award

This award is presented to a supervisory level individual (not director) who demonstrates leadership in the field in one or more areas that may include marketing, nutrition education, finance, human resources.

Chapter Growth Award (Cow of a Different Color and Holy Cow Awards)

This award is presented to the chapter(s) who experienced the most growth within the last year.  There are two winners - the chapter who has grown by total number and by percentage.

The Director of the Year award recognizes school nutrition directors for the contributions they have made throughout their school nutrition career.

Friend of SNA-VA Award

This award is to be presented to someone outside of school nutrition program who has done extraordinary work on behalf of school nutrition.

Future Leader Award - NLC

This award is to be presented to provide potential new leaders of the association with a strong support system and hands-on training to ensure a successful future.

Helen G. Ward Scholarship Award

This educational scholarship may be awarded to a current member to offset the cost of education/courses in the school nutrition field.

Lifetime Achievement Award

This award is for any SNA-VA Member of 25 or more years who is living or deceased and displays exceptional achievements in the area of child nutrition issues in schools, community, state, nationally and/or legislation.

Manager of the Year Award

The Manager of the Year award, in honor of Louise Sublette recognizes school nutrition managers for the contributions they have made throughout their school nutrition career.

Marketing Award

This award is presented to a school that has done an exceptional job in promoting their child nutrition program by use of a theme day or promotion. The program must be completed between September 1 and January 15 of the current school year.

Physical Activity and Nutrition Education Award

This award is presented to a school that has done an exceptional job in promoting their child nutrition program through the use of a wellness program or activity completed between September 1 and January 15 of the current school year.

State Conference Scholarship Award

This award is presented to individuals from each region to attend the Annual State Conference at no registration cost.

Years of Service Award

This award is presented to members for their "Years of Service" in school nutrition (begins with 20 years and given in 5 year increments).
