6th graders were welcomed to campus in August for a day filled with friends old and new. Thirty-six WEB leaders came together to make the best day possible for our latest students. In homeroom groups, our WEB leaders led instructional games, led tours, and helped students open lockers.
To foster connection among 6th graders, WEB leaders visit homerooms twice monthly, engaging students in fun activities that encourage teamwork and communication through both whole-class and small-group games.
Every week, a student is nominated for being a positive impact on campus and making HMS a place where everyone belongs. As WEB leaders, we also give a big shout-out to the teachers for their hard work on campus and to show our gratitude. This is the list of teachers and students who have been recipients:
Week 1: Mrs. Schaefer
Week 2: Mr. Ku / Morgan T
Week 3: Mrs. Negroe / Jack E
Week 4: Mrs. Oh / Monroe W
Week 5: Coach Kido/ Elise
Week 6: Mrs. Moffat/ Wilder S
Week 7: Mrs. Doan/ Qitao M
Every year at HMS, each grade has an Outdoor Education trip. The 6th-grade students attended Cuyamaca Outdoor School this year. To view the photos, click the link below.
The 6th-grade dance happens a few times a year and takes place in the cafeteria. Every time the 6th graders enter the cafeteria and see the DJ start blasting music, they know it's time to dance the night away.
