WHAT IS CREATE?
WHAT IS CREATE?
Mission
The CREATE program is committed to cultivating diverse, well-trained, and future-ready educators equipped with innovative teaching practices to excel globally and address educational inequities. Dedicated to fostering a culture of support, equity, and innovative instruction through Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), our mission empowers educators to integrate VAPA into their pedagogy, enhancing creativity, equity, and effective learning strategies that mirror the diversity of our communities.
Vision
Our vision for the CREATE program is to be a leader in preparing educators who advocate for supportive, equitable, and innovative approaches to teaching. Through integrating VAPA, we aim to inspire students and teachers to achieve excellence, advocate for social justice, and engage in transformative education practices.
Culture of Support
Collaboration and feedback are the cornerstones of robust support in our cohort communities. To ensure resident job-embedded preparation and development through placement and induction, communication between residents, university supervisors, site leadership, district coordinators, and mentor teachers is authentic and ongoing.
Culture of Equity
Teaching is an act of social justice. In sharpening our residents’ lens of equity, we foster deep reflection, culturally responsive practices, and the evaluation of systems and structures, empowering our residents to close the achievement gap and transform the schools in which they teach.
Culture of Innovation and Effective Instruction
Educational innovations and effective instructional practices improve academic outcomes and address contemporary needs. Residents will develop advanced research-based practices to promote student excellence.
