Unit 6 Benchmark : Survival
San Marcos Unified District uses the Benchmark Curriculum to guide our close reading, comprehension strategy instructions, small group work, etc.
Grammar :
Students are learning new Root/Prefixes weekly along with related vocabulary words. Check in with your student regarding their weekly packet work and Friday quiz scores.
Book Club
Students are placed in book club reading groups. Students independently complete the reading and writing prompts and meet with their groups weekly to discuss their novels.
Math
Unit 3: Fractions
Students are working on adding/subtracting fractions, equivalent fractions, multiplying/dividing fractions.

Students will be working on all three of these types of writing throughout the year. All final drafts are typed and submitted through Google Classroom. You can see your child's submitted work through our Google Classroom.
After students submit a writing piece there is an opportunity to share their work with their peers, know as "Authors Chair".
