The SMUSD Elementary Physical Education team has worked very hard to create a program that best fits the current needs of our students. Our mission has always, and will continue to be, to instill passion for Physical Education in every student which will empower them to understand how to be, and enjoy being, physically active for life. As Physical Educators we look to provide students with;
Meaningful skills that promote personal, social and emotional learning
Nutrition and personal fitness planning
Goal setting
Problem solving
Responsible behaviors and self-managment skills
Physically active lifestyle
Healthy decision making
Development of personal values and beliefs
Your student will continue to receive weekly, standards-based lessons that are age-appropriate and based on the current distant learning schedule presented by SMUSD. This will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction with the intent of connecting with our students to provide them with the guidance and knowledge so they can then get off their screens and get ACTIVE!
Grade levels have been placed in Grade Bands (two or more grade levels together) to best distribute age-appropriate content to the students. The Grade Bands are as follows;
TK/K- 2 Grade Primary
3ed Grade- 5th Grade Upper
