Born in England to Malaysian-born Sikh parents, Dr Singh has lived in Australia for 45 years. Her academic journey reflects a lifelong commitment to Indigenous knowledge systems, including a BA in Aboriginal Administration Management and Community Engagement, which laid the foundation for her strong connections with First Nations communities across Australia and beyond. Her groundbreaking doctoral research—Cultural Education as a Framework for Policy Formation: Building Inclusive Societies with Sensitivities, Awareness, and Responsiveness—offers practical strategies for integrating cultural awareness into policies addressing domestic violence, workplace inequities, and community resilience. She has worked alongside First Nations communities to integrate traditional wisdom into innovative solutions for pressing global challenges. Her visits to the Philippines—three times in the past two years—reflect her commitment to cultural exchange and amplifying the voices of Indigenous leaders in shaping sustainable futures.
