Our parent handouts have a ton of information on how to get an instrument!
Most importantly - please do not purchase an instrument online that is not from an approved music store or an approved brand! Instruments are made in a very specific way for a good sound (or any sound at all)
Those instruments online may look cool and have a cheap price tag, but they will end up costing more than they're worth with repairs. Plus, some of them don't even work!
Before purchasing online, please contact one of us so we can make sure it's a good buy!
If money is a concern, we can help!

If you are interested in an instrument NOT listed here, please contact Mr. Schapker (Band) or Mrs. Ragan (Strings) for more info!

If you would like to purchase an instrument, please contact Mrs. Ragan or Mr. Schapker so that we can help you with the process. There are a lot of things online that look like an instrument, but will end up falling a part and making your student have a subpar experience.
Most area music stores have rent-to-own programs. Please check out the band or strings "parent information" pages for more information about those stores and what to look for.
It doesn't cost anything to be in band or strings!
The materials will cost money, but there is financial aid available if needed. Contact either Mrs. Ragan or Mr. Schapker if your student wants to play but you need help with purchasing the materials.
Band and Strings meets for 30 minutes during their school day, 2-3 times per week.
There is no outside-of-school commitment other than three concerts: one in the fall (November-ish), one in the spring (February ish) and then their last concert in April.
We do strongly encourage practicing at home. Students who consistently practice at least 20 minutes a week (two 10 minute periods) will see themselves improve faster than those who don't. That being said, our programs are designed to enable students to experience success without a significant investment of time outside of the school day.
