How to Volunteer

We love welcoming volunteers into our classroom! Whether that be as a room parent, lunch helper, or other important roles throughout the year, students love seeing their families active in their school environment. If you would like to help in any capacity, please be mindful of the volunteer process and how to successfully become a volunteer at our school.

Any adult that wants to volunteer at SMS needs to be Virtus trained and certified before they may volunteer. Please see smsch.org for more information on the Virtus program. Click on Parents at the top of the SMS website. Then scroll down until you see the heading Parent Involvement. 

Please keep in mind, that to volunteer in any capacity, including to chaperone on field trips, coming into the classroom, and any other volunteer opportunity presented by the school, you will need to complete the Virtus training. If you feel as though you would like to volunteer this year, it is recommended that you complete your Virtus training soon. It does take a few days to get all of the documentation back to the school following your completion of the training.
