Welcome to Grade 8 ! This is a busy and exciting year! Please remember to look over and sign the "Upcoming Events" memo that will assist you in making plans for all of the busy events this school year. ( A copy of the memo can be found below.)

8th Grade News 2018-2019

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 8th grade! We would like to explain the graduation events that will happen at the end of the school year so you can place these dates on your calendar now.

Please read this carefully and then sign. Return the signed tear-off to your student’s homeroom teacher by September 5th, 2018.

1st week in May graduation gowns will be sent home. We use graduation gowns during the Mass, the girls wear white and the boys wear royal blue. We do not wear caps. The gowns are rented and are returned immediately after the Mass before the students go into the gym for the reception.

In early May “Posters” are created by parents to be displayed at the Dinner. A committee will provide the poster board and specific dates as the time nears. You may want to start gathering photos and ideas now.

2nd week of May graduation Pictures. There will be a class picture taken of the entire 8th grade class and the opportunity to have an individual picture taken of your student in their gown. This will occur during school the morning of May 8th, 2019.

Thursday, May 30, 2019 – 8th grade trip – We will be going to Hershey Park for the day leaving the middle school at approx. 8:00 A.M. and returning at approx. 9:00 P.M. Details will follow as plans are finalized. We encourage all parents to join us. No siblings allowed.

Friday, May31, 2019-- Graduation practice 10:00 A.M. –We should finish at approx. 11:00. The students are out of uniform and should be dressed according to the school out of uniform guidelines. Students receive report cards at this time. THIS PRACTICE IS AT THE MAIN CHURCH.

Friday, May 31, 2019-- Dinner and student dance in the MISSION6:00 to 8:00 dinner and 8:00 to 10:00 dance for students - This is a dinner for the 8th grade student and his or her parents; no siblings please. This is a special evening in the Mission for students, parents, and faculty; the dress for the boys is shirt, ties, and dress pants and for the girls is modest dresses (near the knee length and with straps) or dressy pants outfits. During this dinner we celebrate our 8th grade students with posters created by the parents and awards are given out to the 8th grade students for various accomplishments. It is important to attend this dinner with your student. After dinner the students go to the Middle School gym for a dance.

Monday, June 2, 2019-- Graduation 6:30 P.M. -- STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE AT 6:00. Attire for the graduation is white or pastel modest dress (near the knee length and with straps) for the girls no longer in length than mid-calf because they should not hang below the white gown and shirt, tie, dress pants, and dress shoes for the boys with the blue gown. Directly following the mass the students will return their gown. Please make sure you take any pictures you need of your student in the gown BEFORE the Mass.
