5C News
Happy Sunday!
This officially marks the beginning of T3. It's a great time to check in with your student to make sure they have refreshed their supplies (glue stick, scissors, pencils, etc) and are organized and ready for this new trimester. This trimester, your student is eligible to earn honor roll. At the end of T3, if they have earned all A's and B's, with more A's than B's, they are eligible to be awarded honor roll. Conduct and effort play into this. If they can't manage their behavior, complete homework, and come to class prepared with supplies, they might not earn honor roll, regardless of their grades. Finally, just a reminder that extra credit is not given. This is not fair to those students who give their best effort all trimester long. That's the expectation for all students at this point in the year.
In ELA, we will continue reviewing ELA skills and writing. We have begun writing the informational writing assignment. We will continue our second novel, Fever 1793. We will do this in class. If students need to finish classwork, it will come home for homework. Just a reminder, homework is not optional. It is expected to be completed as assigned, even if your child has additional classwork to finish. This is a time management consequence.
In 5C Math, we will begin fractions. Students should be fluent in their math facts. This is SO important to their math success.
In science, we are continuing the Earth, Moon, and Celestial Cycles unit. I am encouraging students to read the notes they take each day. There will be frequent quick checks to help students with this skill.
