About Mrs. Gerstmyer

I am so excited to be a part of the St. Margaret community! This is my ninth year of teaching and my fifth year at SMS. I have taught music both in the public school and private school setting from Preschool to Eighth grade.

I am a native of the Hereford Zone in Northern Baltimore County. I currently live in Parkville with my husband, daughter, dog, and two cats.

2020-2021 School Year

This year, I will be teaching Preschool through Eighth grade music. I will also be teaching Kindergarten PE classes. I have taught Music and PE before at another Catholic school and I look forward to doing it again.

All the students from Pre-K 4 to eighth grade come to music once a week. Students in third through fifth grade have the opportunity to join the Chorus which meets on Tuesdays after school from 3:00-4:00 pm.

In music class, we share in our love of making beautiful music together. We do this through singing, playing instruments, reading music on the staff and learning about music through the ages. We also learn about the instruments, both in our classroom and those that are played in the orchestra and band.

I also run the Creative Arts Club and Music Ministry at the Middle School. The Creative Arts Club meets on Thursday after school from 3:00-4:30 pm. If you aren't a part of the club, make sure you come to our performance! Music Ministry has enthusiastic singers that help fill the church with our hymns and psalms. They are very dedicated to sharing their beautiful voices at our weekly school masses. We can always have more voices join us if you find you would like to be a part of this wonderful group!
