About  Mrs. Gerstmyer

I am so excited to be a part of the St. Margaret community! This is my thirteenth year of teaching and my ninth year at SMS. I have taught music in both public and private school settings from preschool to eighth grade.

I graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a BS degree in Music Education. I am currently working on my Master's degree through St. Joseph's College of Maine in Catholic School Leadership.

I taught for three years at St Joan of Arc in Aberdeen where I taught Music and PE to all the grade levels. Then I went to Harford County Public Schools for a year where I taught General Music, piano, and guitar to grades 6 & 7 at Bel Air Middle School. Now I am here at St Margaret School and I am loving it.

I am a native of the Hereford Zone in Northern Baltimore County. I currently live in Parkville with my husband, daughter, dog, and cat.

All the students from Pre-K 4 to fifth grade come to music once a week. Students in fourth and fifth grade have the opportunity to join the Chorus which meets on Tuesdays after school from 3:00-4:00 pm.

In music class, we share in our love of making beautiful music together. We do this through singing, playing instruments, reading music on the staff and learning about music through the ages. We also learn about the instruments, both in our classroom and those that are played in the orchestra and band.

I also run the Creative Arts Club at the Middle School. The Creative Arts Club meets after school from 3:00-4:30 pm. If you aren't a part of the club, make sure you come to our performance!
