MARCH 14

We hit the road early, heading into the final day of our trip, starting at 8:30 AM sharp. We began with a bus tour hosted by a gentleman who lived in Bastogne with his father during the time of the Battle of the Bulge; his father later passed away after the battle. As we passed through Bastogne and visited war sites and memorials, we found ourselves experiencing weather similar to what the soldiers endured at the time, walking through harsh cold with light snow falling.

After two or three short stops throughout the city of Bastogne and a walk through some of the Battle of Bastogne sites, we found ourselves beginning the final long bus ride of the trip. Outside the bus windows, we saw snow—some of us for the first time ever—and took long, but never long enough, naps.

Upon our arrival at the hotel, we immediately got back into action with a walking tour of Brussels, Belgium. After some enjoyable shopping time and an emotional final dinner, there was a mix of people going to sleep and others trying to stay awake so they could sleep on the plane, all in preparation for a long travel day ahead.

Hi!!

Today was our last day adventuring around Europe. We traveled to Bastogne in Belgium, visiting different historical sites, seeing tanks and memorials, and learning about the town’s connection to the wars with our tour guide. While we were out, it even started snowing!!!

Later, we stopped to get lunch before traveling to Brussels. After arriving in Brussels, we met up with our tour guide and walked around the city, learning about its history and seeing Smurf statues. We were then given some free time to explore and shop around Brussels.

For dinner, we ate at a restaurant called Le Jardin des Olives. After that, we returned to our hotel and got ready for our flight the next day.
