In this unit, students will investigate justice issues facing our world today, their causes, the associated problems and their impact on humankind. Students will explore Church teachers relevant to these issues and practice and Christian responses. The concept of service will be examined in terms of each student as an individual and more broadly as a collective responsibility both locally and globally.
This unit explores how religion and religious ideas are presented in art, architecture, music, dance, drama, literature and film. The theological perspective conveyed in various arts works will be examined in the light of associated historical and societal perspectives, and applied in a contemporary way that engages student with current day ideas. In this unit students will be exposed to the ways that the arts present religious ideas, express religious sentiment, engage in prayer, and challenge religious ideas.
This subject allows students to explore their understanding of the Bible, including a number of stories from the New Testament. They unpack these stories by using the Three Worlds of the Text and then compare their findings to a media representation of the scripture: The Chosen (Season 1). The subject concludes with a personal response to one of the central figures covered in the unit.
