Mark Kimball, FACHE

President and CEO

Mark Kimball serves as President and Chief Executive Officer for St. Mark's Medical Center. With over 20 years of healthcare leadership experience, including rural health care, Kimball ensures execution of the hospital's overall strategic plan.

Prior to joining SMMC in 2020, Kimball was recruited to serve as the first Vice President and CEO of Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital in Murphy, North Carolina, a new facility in the Erlanger Erlanger Health System, the 10th largest public health system in the United States. While at Erlanger, Kimball developed a strategic plan that helped expand primary care access, improved ED and inpatient survey results, recruited primary care and specialist physicians, and expanded community health programs.

Kimball earned his BA in Economics from the University of Georgia and MBA from Albany State University, is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and has completed leadership training through The Studer Group Institute, which enables organizations to build a sustainable culture that promotes accountability, fosters innovation, and consistently delivers a great patient experience and the best quality outcomes.

He is married and has one adult son.

Tamera Hartfield, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, HACP, CPHQ

Chief Clinical Officer

Tamera Hartfield has served for over 35 years in a variety of leadership, administrative, and clinical roles in various Texas inpatient and outpatient settings. As Chief Clinical Officer at SMMC since 2005, Hartfield oversees all day-to-day operations of clinical services at the hospital, including quality measures and nursing and clinical staff management, ensuring compassionate and efficient delivery of high-quality patient services.

Prior to joining SMMC, Hartfield was Chief Nursing Officer at the now closed Fayette Memorial Hospital in La Grange.

Hartfield received her bachelor of science in nursing from University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas, and her master of science in nursing with a clinical focus in emergency care and role focus in education from University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. She holds certifications from The Nursing Executive Advanced Board; Healthcare Accreditation Certified Professional (HACP); and Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Additionally, Hartfield is a member of the Texas Organization for Nursing Leadership.

Hartfield's nursing career has been dedicated to creating high quality, reliable systems of care and developing future nurses and health care professionals as leaders.

Outside of the hospital, Hartfield is an officer with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and a Sunday School teacher.
