How to Take the TSIA
Complete a mandatory Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA).
Create an account
Choose Texas Success Initiative 2.0 Pre Assessment Activity (TSIA2-PAA)
Click Begin Pre Assessment Activity
You will select Smithville High School for the campus.
After you have reviewed all sections, you can print your certificate, check your email for a Certificate of Completion, or log back in and click the history tab in the top right to retrieve your information. You are required you to show proof of completion, before you test.
NOTE* Only do this step first if you are testing at SHS. If choosing to test off campus you will select that campus as the testing site.
Choose one of the following to sign up to take your TSIA:
Through SHS
In-person
Fill out the SHS TSIA Request Form here.
Remote through Blinn, ACC, or your specific college of choice
Please visit the college of choice to test at and read their rules and guidelines to sign up to test.
In-person at a non-SHS location (may have an additional fee)
Find a testing center nearby using the Accuplacer Testing Center Lookup.
Email the testing center for more information.
What is TSI and how does it relate to college readiness?
The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state-legislated program designed to improve student success in college. There are two components of the program.
An assessment to diagnose students’ basic skills in reading, mathematics, and writing
Developmental instruction to strengthen academic skills that need improvement
How do I know if I am college ready in reading, math, and writing?
Your student can show college readiness by obtaining the following scores on the TSI test;
Freshmen entering higher education Mathematics - 350 Reading - 351 Writing –You are considered college ready in two ways: (1) if you score a 4 on the essay and a score in the range of 340–390 on the multiple-choice section. (2) You are also considered college ready if you score below 340 on the multiple-choice section, score a 4, 5, or 6 on the ABE Writing Diagnostic test, and score a 5 on the essay.

How can I see my scores AND request my scores to be sent to a college?
After your test, your scores are emailed to you. You can also go to the following site to log in using your information. Click on Score Report for more information. Once you fill out your information you can request your scores be sent- via an email you will receive.
