Dana Bosley - Science
My name is Dana Bosley and I am starting my 24th year of teaching! This will be my 23nd year at SMS teaching 7th grade science. My family resides in Smithville. I have 2 children (Eli and Anna) Anna is in high school, and Eli is starting his first year in college. My husband is also a teacher - he teaches at North Platte Intermediate in Edgerton, MO. I also have a "third child" Hazel - she is our amazing Cockapoo dog! I love to bake, play the piano, and hang out with my family. When football season is going on, you can find me either at a Chiefs game or rooting them on at home! I look forward to meeting my new students and parents this year. It is going to be a great year at SMS!
Tutoring Schedule: Can be available any day after school until 3:30, but you must inform me at least one day in advance. During Scholar Bowl Season (November-February), I will NOT be able to tutor on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Jake Butterworth - Social Studies
My Name is Jake Butterworth and I have been teaching in the Smithville School District for 6 years now. I am a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. GO BEARCATS! I have taught 6th grade Social Studies and Science for the last 5 years, 1 year at the Middle School, and 4 years at Horizon Elementary. I am a football coach here at the Middle School and a High School Basketball coach, as well. I spend most of my free time with my family; my fiance Natalie, and 2 dogs, Phoebe and Luna. We love camping and hiking in our summers as we venture around the United States checking out National Parks.
Tutoring Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 7-7:30 am by appointment
Lauren Macali - ELA
My name is Lauren Macali, and this is my first year teaching in the Smithville School District. I grew up in Maryville, MO-- Go Bearcats!--and attended school at Graceland University. I currently reside in Kansas City, MO. Outside of school, I enjoy playing pickleball and tennis, reading (of course), and spending time with friends and family. I am so excited to join the Smithville family. It is a great year to be a Smithville Warrior!
Tutoring Schedule: I tutor by appointment. I can be available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:00-7:20 a.m.
Maya Rupard - Math
My name is Maya Rupard and this is my third year teaching! I graduated from Northwest Missouri State in 2021 and began teaching 6th grade math at Horizon Elementary! I moved to the middle school for the 22-23 school year and am staying here! Along with teaching here at SMS, I am one of two Cheer Coaches! Along with cheering on our warriors, I am a huge Chiefs fan and celebrate Red Friday, every Friday, in the fall! I also love to read, spend time with my best friends and family, and can't be separated from my sweet 3 year old lab retriever, Flynn!
