RHS Beta Needs Your Help!

The Beta Club at RHS has recently been raising money for Make A Wish Foundation. This foundation seeks to help children and their families during their time dealing with life-threatening diseases. This disease is affecting children very close to us. We wanted to share a little bit about our warrior, JD Johnson from Mize.

JD is 6 years old. He was born with heterotaxy syndrome that has affected his life in many ways. He has suffered multiple problems with his heart, and he is still fighting them today. JD has had multiple surgeries. At the age of 1 week and 5 days old, JD had a heart surgery here in MS at Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital. At age 5, JD traveled to Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, where he underwent two more heart surgeries. He was given a pacemaker at 2 years old. He has had 3 heart catheterizations at ages 4 months, 23 months, and his last at 4 years old. As you can see, JD has had lots of problems in his 6 short years of life.

JD believes that this journey will not limit him. He believes that God has big plans for him. JD wrote to us and emphasized, “ I am a warrior! I am a fighter! I get my strength from my parents, siblings, family, friends, but most importantly from God.This disease does not define me, but it makes me who I am. I am JD Johnson, and I am proud to be a warrior.”

If anyone from the community would like to donate to JD, please contact Mrs. Sophie Crumpton at Raleigh High School.
