Director’s Welcome
Welcome to the official home of the SCMS Band! Music education builds discipline, teamwork, and creative expression. Whether your student is picking up an instrument for the very first time in 5th grade or preparing to transition to the High School Pride of the Upper Cumberland Band, we are thrilled to have you in our music family.
About the Band
The SCMS band consists of three ensembles: 5th and 6th grade band, 7th and 8th grade band , and pep band (open to 6-8th graders). The band is open to any student going into 5th-8th grade from Union Height, Forks River, Defeated, Smith County Middle, and homeschoolers. Last year, this band performed at 4 football games, 5 basketball, 2 concerts, and attended the Carthage Christmas parade and Upper Cumberland concert festival for the first time in years.
