Class Overview
In our Special Education program, we provide targeted reading and math interventions for students in grades K–8. Instruction is individually tailored to strengthen foundational skills and build academic confidence in a supportive, small-group or one-on-one setting. I work closely alongside parents and classroom teachers to help every student grow at their own pace while celebrating their progress!
About Me
Welcome to Defeated Elementary! My name is Rion Rigsby, and I am thrilled to be entering my 22nd year of teaching—all right here in the community I love! I taught 2nd and 4th grade before transitioning to Special Education in 2014. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from Tennessee Tech University, along with certifications in General Education (K–8) and Special Education (K–12). My husband, Brandon, and I have three children: Brennan (in graduate school at UT for Speech-Language Pathology), Clayton (a junior at TTU), and Cohen (a junior at Smith County High School). Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading and life on our farm, though most of our family time these days is spent in the bleachers cheering on Cohen at his basketball and baseball games! I am looking forward to another fantastic school year partnering with our wonderful students and families!
