Class Overview
In Seventh and Eighth Grade English Language Arts, students will build and strengthen their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills. Using the TN state standards, students will read a variety of literary and informational texts, develop critical thinking skills, expand their vocabulary, and communicate effectively through discussion and writing. Throughout the year, students will write narrative, informative, and argumentative pieces while practicing grammar, research, and collaboration.
Seventh Grade Social Studies explores world history and geography from the development of early civilizations through the Middle Ages. Students will examine how geography, culture, religion, economics, and government have shaped societies throughout history. Students will analyze primary and secondary sources, practice historical thinking skills, and make connections between past events and today's world.
Eighth Grade Social Studies focuses on United States history from the colonial period through Reconstruction. Students will explore the nation's founding, the Constitution, westward expansion, the Civil War, and Reconstruction while examining the people and events that shaped America. Students will analyze historical documents, evaluate multiple perspectives, and strengthen their critical thinking skills through discussions, projects, and Inquiry-based learning.
