Class overview
My classroom provides specialized instruction and individualized support for students with significant learning, communication, behavioral, and functional needs. Our goal is to help every child develop academically, socially, emotionally, and independently while fostering a love of learning in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
Instruction is based on each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and is delivered using evidence-based practices, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior supports. Students participate with their general education peers to the greatest extent appropriate, promoting inclusion, meaningful relationships, and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
Our dedicated team collaborates closely with families, general education teachers, and related service providers to ensure each student receives the support needed to reach their highest potential. Together, we celebrate every achievement and empower students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed both in school and in everyday life.
About me
Hello! My name is Mary Holliman. I moved to beautiful Smith County in 2009 from my home state of Michigan. I am married and have a large family including three sons and two daughters along with three bonus children and three grandchildren. My passions include special education, animals of all types, and horseback riding. I have been teaching special education since 2016 and was a special education assistant for several years prior. I am excited to start the new school year and look forward to new adventures and accomplishments with my students.
