September 17 Thursday/18 Friday 

Constitution Day is September 17! It is a day to celebrate the United States Constitution and learn about the important ideas it protects.

 Today, we can celebrate by learning about our rights, being responsible citizens, and working together to make our community better. 

Krd-2nd will do an I Will Be a Good Citizen activity sheet by reviewing Constitution Day Promises.

 We will also review the parts of the flag and how to hang it correctly. We will do our read-aloud: The Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble. 

Song for the day: America, You're a Grand Ole' Flag. 

Wear your Red/White/Blue on Thursday and Tiger Blue on Friday!!!!

September 10/11: 

No school on Monday due to Labor Day. 

Pre-K through 2nd grade will be having Animal Book Week. Steven Jenkins and Jerry Palatto are awesome authors who write and create life-size animal pictures. Books for the week are: What a Tail!, Who Would Win?, Life Size Animals, Never Smile at a Monkey, National Geographic, plus many more on different levels. Each table will have all sorts of animal books. First- and 2nd-graders will be allowed to check out animal books. For fun, we will be moving and making sounds like different animals. Our song of the week is Madagascar, I Like to Move It! 

What fun we will have in the library Thursday and Friday!

Friday is 9/11, and 2nd grade will do a book talk on the event.

September 3/4:🥵In celebration of Labor Day on Monday, September 7, 2026 (No School), we will be discussing what Labor Day is in K-2 on Thursday and Friday. 

All classes will swap out books and receive their first bookmark. 

Pre-K - Kindergarten - 1st - How to make a sandwich. Discuss which sandwich takes more time to make. Read-aloud book is Peanut Butter is my Sandwich! What's Yours? We will also review the "What Begins With?" alphabet quiz. How do we use a bookmark?

2nd: We will have vocabulary words such as barbecue, hammock, and celebrate on the topic of Labor Day, and learn how to do a Labor Day word search. We will learn to work diagonally, across, and down, and how to use a ruler to work a word puzzle.

Kindergarten is learning responsibility with library books. Each student chose a book and received a bookbag. Each will play round-robin reading and choose another book. We will do a read-aloud of "Cool Dog, School Dog" and "Animals in the Park," and the action song "If You're Happy and You Know It." 

Pre-K will get acquainted with the library. We will read aloud "Peanut Butter and Jelly," "This Old Man," and "If You're Happy and You Know It." 

1st and 2nd will turn in books and check out new ones. The library has 13,000 books, so we are working to find their locations by genre.  We will do the read-aloud of "Cool Dog, School Dog."

August 20/21: Every student will receive a book bag to carry books back and forth for protection.

 The 1st and 2nd grades will be taught a book talk about genres and book care. Each student will check out two books. The book read-aloud is "Do Dinosaurs Go to School?"

 PreK will begin coming to the library on the 28th. Library rules and the proper handling of library materials will be taught. Book Reads are Peanut Butter and Jelly and Give a Dog a Bone, along with the songs for the books.

August 13/14: 

On these two days, the 1st and 2nd will go on a scavenger hunt to discover all the wonderful things our library has to offer. Along the way, they will learn where to find books, how to take care of them, where to sit and read, and a little bit about their new classroom friends! The library is to be a place where no one wants to leave and is always eager to return.🥰

 August 17/18: The kindergarten classes will be introduced to the library in two groups. We will then be able to go to full classes on Thursday and Friday.
