Hello and Welcome to the GES Library!

Hello! My name is Dr. Amy Leigh Rogers, and I am proud to serve as the librarian at Gordonsville Elementary School. I love being part of the GES family and having the opportunity to work with our students each week as they grow as readers, learners, and leaders.

I am married to Ryan Rogers, who is the agriculture teacher at Gordonsville High School. We have a daughter, Janie Mai, who is a third-grade student here at GES. Our family loves being part of the Gordonsville community, and we enjoy spending time together whenever we can. In my free time, I enjoy reading, crafting, spending time with my family, and serving in our church.

About Our Library

My goal is for the GES Library to be much more than a place where students simply check out books. I want it to be a place where students feel welcomed, encouraged, challenged, and excited to learn.

Throughout the school year, students will participate in a variety of library lessons and activities designed to strengthen their reading and research skills while helping them discover the joy of reading. We explore different genres, authors, nonfiction text features, library skills, research skills, and literature through read-alouds, hands-on activities, discussions, projects, and, of course, plenty of books!

I also work closely with students through our Accelerated Reader (AR) program. Students are encouraged to choose books that are appropriate for their individual reading levels, read consistently, complete AR quizzes, and work toward personalized reading goals. One of my favorite parts of my job is celebrating our students as they reach new milestones and become stronger, more confident readers.

Throughout the year, our library also offers special opportunities such as Book Fairs, reading challenges, Book Clubs, special reading events, and other activities designed to make reading exciting and meaningful for our students and families.

Partnering With Families

I believe that some of the greatest growth happens when school and home work together. This website is designed to help keep families informed about what is happening in the library, including what students are learning, upcoming events, reading programs, important dates, and special opportunities throughout the school year.

It is a privilege to be a small part of your child's educational journey. My hope is that every student who walks through the library doors will know that there is a book for them, that reading can take them anywhere, and that the library is a place where they belong.
