Be Professional
Arrive on time, prepared, and dressed appropriately for the salon environment.
Use respectful language and maintain a positive attitude.
Treat classmates, clients, instructors, and school property with respect.
Accept feedback professionally and use it to improve.
Practice Safety and Sanitation
Follow all instructor directions, safety procedures, and Tennessee cosmetology sanitation requirements.
Wash or sanitize hands before and after every service.
Clean, disinfect, and properly store tools and equipment after each use.
Keep your workstation clean, organized, and free of unnecessary items.
Never use a product, chemical, electrical tool, or sharp implement without permission and proper instruction.
Report spills, injuries, broken equipment, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Come Prepared
Bring required materials each day, including a notebook, pencil, textbook, cosmetology kit, and charged laptop when needed.
Keep your cosmetology kit labeled, organized, and fully stocked.
Complete assignments, practice logs, and theory work by the assigned deadline.
Make up missed work and practical hours according to school policy.
Participate and Practice
Take part in demonstrations, class discussions, written assignments, and hands-on activities.
Practice each skill carefully and follow the correct procedure.
Remain on task and use class time wisely.
Ask questions when you do not understand a technique or direction.
Work toward improving accuracy, speed, confidence, and professionalism.
Respect the Salon Environment
Remain at your assigned workstation unless given permission to move.
Do not borrow another student’s tools or products without permission.
Use products responsibly and avoid unnecessary waste.
Keep food and drinks away from workstations, tools, products, and equipment.
Follow school rules regarding cell phones and personal devices.
Protect Client Privacy and Comfort
Ask permission before touching a client, mannequin, or classmate.
Explain procedures before beginning a service.
Use appropriate draping and sanitation procedures.
Protect personal information and do not share photographs or videos without permission.
Stop immediately and notify the instructor if a client experiences pain, irritation, or discomfort.
Demonstrate Academic Integrity
Complete your own written and practical work.
Do not copy assignments, falsify practice hours, or claim another student’s work.
Follow testing procedures and use only approved resources.
Take responsibility for your choices, progress, and learning.
