High School Biology I in Tennessee is designed to help students understand the structure and function of living organisms and the interactions that sustain life. The course emphasizes scientific inquiry, critical thinking, data analysis, and laboratory investigations. Major standards include the study of cellular structure and function, genetics and heredity, DNA and protein synthesis, evolution and natural selection, ecology and the relationships between organisms and their environments, energy flow through ecosystems, and the organization of body systems.
