Don’t Litter the Beach
By Betsey Strum
Don’t litter the beach! Don’t litter the beach!
Plastic rings from soda cans,
Trap the animals in the sand!
So keep plastic out of reach!
Don’t litter the beach!
Don’t litter the sea! Don’t litter the sea!
When you’re boating all day through,
Take your trash back home with you!
So the fish can all swim free!
Don’t litter the sea!
Don’t litter the shore! Don’t litter the shore!
You would think it very rude,
If bags and papers, scraps of food,
All were left right at your door!
Don’t litter the shore!
The Mangrove Song
Lyrics by Emily Hitchcock and Jasmine Pacheco. (Sung by Glenda Perez).
Down in the mangroves, down in the mangroves
Where all the baby fishes hide
The mangroves trees have, strong curving prop roots
That protect us from the tide
They hold the sand down, prevent erosion
So that it won’t wash away
Work as a filter, removing small grains
Keeping the water clean all day
We love the mangroves, we love the mangroves
We want to stay here for a while
Among the prop roots, we hear a splashing
And then we see a crocodile
