I look forward to working with your child!!
Below is a little 'beginning-of-the-year' type information and many answers to commonly asked questions.
ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL: Our School Day begins at 8:00AM. Drop-off and Pick-up for Early Childhood will be at the EC/PreK wing entrance.
Drop-off begins at 7:45am and pick-up is at 2:00pm.
If you need to drop your child off earlier than 7:45, Morning Care, beginning at 7:15am, is available free of charge at the cafeteria entrance to the building.
After Care, beginning at 2:15pm until 5:30pm, in the Cafeteria, is available for a per-hour fee.
***note: Any student not picked up by 2:15pm will be brought to the cafeteria and dismissed from the After Care Program. Please let me know if your child will be picked up at dismissal or require the After Care Program. If your child will require the after care program last minute, please message me prior to dismissal to notify.
LUNCH: Lunch is at 10:36am. Your child may bring a lunch from home or purchase lunch from the cafeteria. Myself and our classroom assistant remain in the cafeteria with the children during Lunch. The lunch menu will be sent home monthly and alternate options are listed on the menu. Please let me know if your child will regularly purchase lunch, or be bringing one from home.
SNACK: Snack will be around 9:00am everyday. Please send in a small snack with a drink everyday and label it "SNACK" with your Childs name. (If your child will attend aftercare, please send an additional snack labeled "PM SNACK.")
TOILETING: We visit the bathrooms frequently throughout the day to create routine and avoid accidents. It is understandable that accidents happen, but it is expected that your child be potty-trained at the start of school. To prepare your child to begin the program, practice a regular bathroom routine at home to foster confidence and minimize accidents while they are at school!
REST TIME: We will have a 30 minute rest time everyday after lunch. Relaxing music or a movie will be on for your child to rest his/her mind and body. The children are not required to sleep, but encouraged to rest quietly.
SPECIALS: The children will participate in Art, Music, P.E. and Technology. Sneakers will be required to participate in P.E.
COMMUNICATION: I will be utilizing Class DoJo as a communication tool. On the DoJo, I will keep you updated on what we are up to in our class! I will post fun pictures and important reminders—and it is there that you can send me important messages about arrival/dismissal/lunch/etc!! I will also send home your child’s folder everyday with important information and any class work, be sure to check it daily!
MASKS: At this time it is not required of your child to wear a mask at school. In the
event this changes you will be notified. If you prefer your child to wear a mask, please
notify me and send extra masks in a labeled ziploc bag in the event they become soiled.
If you have any additional questions/concerns please don't ever hesitate to contact me!
You may email me at folensbeej@smik8.org, or, for a quicker response during the school day, through private message on our Class DoJo page!
