Reading Log Expectations:
Students should read 20-30 minutes each night
Though I am not a fan of graphic novels, students can read whatever they like. My goal is to get them reading every day :)
Students should write a short summary (a sentence or two) about what they read
Though it is the goal to have a parent/guardian sign every night, I would rather the students bring it in done and unsigned than not bring it (I check them in daily)
Grammar Skill of the Week:
Pronoun/Antecedent Agreement
Antecedent: the noun to which the pronoun refers
ex: The boy rode his bike.
Rule 1: If the noun is singular, the pronoun should be singular
ex: The table has jelly on it (not them).
Rule 2: If the noun is plural, the pronoun should be plural
ex: The girls worked together on their (not her) homework.
Rule 3: If the noun is a boy, the pronoun should be masculine
ex: Kyle spilled sauce on his (not her) shirt.
Rule 4: If the noun is a girl, the pronoun should be feminine
ex: Amelia likes to write in her (not his) journal.
