Announcements:  

Make sure that all lab and assignment work is submitted on time!

I anticipate that labs will be done on Tuesdays. This may need to be altered to accommodate holidays , testing and other special events. 

Students should expect to take maintenance exams on Thursdays. 

Students should always have their ESRT in class. 

Students should have a calcuator in class.

Welcome to the 8th Grade!  I told you at the end of the year that I would release information about the review book that you will need for Earth Science over the summer, so here it is. 

I checked on the book at Barnes and Noble on Rt. 9 earlier and they have the book in stock.  The book is also available on Amazon as shown above.  If you can get the "Power Pack" that also includes a red book of old tests for practice at the end of the year, then that is even better!

Tests and Other Important Dates: 

Week of June 17 2024

Regents Earth Science  Exam is June 20 2024 at 8:30 am at Lourdes. 

Week of January 8 2024

Be mindful that attendance of class is very important. Attendance at lab is essential. Students must be present and participating in lab in order to earn a lab hour. Students may not receive a lab hour for completing a lab by using other students' data. I cannot guarantee a make up session for all labs.

Week of December 18 2023

Weathering  and Erosion maintenance quiz Tuesday, December 19 . We will discuss stream development and work with particle deposition this week. All work must be submitted on time. 


Week of December 11 2023

Rock and Mineral test is Thursday, December 14

We will complete our sedimentary rock lab on Tuesday, December 12

Please make sure that all work is up-to-date. 

Students will be receiving their study guides for midterm exams this week; these will also be posted on Google Classroom. 

Week of December 4 2023

Students should remember to have their ESRT in class every day. 

December 7--Maintenance quiz on rocks and minerals 

Anticipate a study guide on rocks and minerals this week. A test on rocks and minerals will follow  on December 14. 

We will do our Igneous Rock Classification this week. 

Students did well on last week's test on minerals!


Week of October 9 2023

We continue to talk about Earth's Size, Shape and Position this week. 

We will do an Ellipse lab on Wednesday, October 11

Maintenance quiz on Thursday. 

Week of October 2 2023

Test on Mapping on Wednesday, October 4. Students should have their completed study guides in class on Monday for correction. Late study guides will not receive credit. 

We are now talking about Earth's size, shape and position. 

Week of September 18, 2023

Students should be finishing the hurricane lab for submission on  or before Thursday September 21. Maps should be scanned or photographed and attached to the assignment AND the paper copy should be turned in,

Students should expect a maintenance quiz on Thursday (pending MAP testing) and expect a t est next week.
