Compass Rose- a symbol that helps you read a map

Globe- a model of the world

Cardinal directions-, north, south, east, west

Map- drawing that shows where places are located

Map key- tells what the symbols on a map means

U.S. Constitution- a set of laws for our country. It was written so our country had one set of rules to follow

Law- a rule that everyone must follow

Vote- to make a choice about something

Community- made up of many neighborhoods

History- tells the story of people, events, and places from the past

Rural- small communities called towns that are far apart

Suburb-located near a city

Urban- city

Capital- is a city where leaders work

NY State Capital- Albany

U.S. Capital- Washington D.C.
