Concert FAQs

COSTUMES Students participating in the June Concert will receive one costume for each class they are in. Students will be measured for costumes during class time. Tuition includes costume fees, but do not include dance shoes or tights. Tights can be purchased through the Studio M Dance Academy shop site or any dance store.  

EACH DANCER will receive: digital download of shows, digital program, and t-shirt. 

DIGITAL DOWNLOADS OF PERFORMANCES Performances will be professionally recorded and one digital download per dancer will be provided. For this reason, no private video cameras will be allowed during the performance or rehearsals. 

CONCERT POLICIES All students participating in the Concert must maintain regular attendance in their scheduled classes. Any student attending less than 75% of their scheduled classes will not be allowed to participate in the Concert. There are mandatory Rehearsals for all dancers (please refer to Tech & Dress Rehearsal Tab for details). Studio M Dance Academy's security policy prohibits the release of ANY dancer during the performance. Performers must remain in the dressing rooms or assigned backstage areas for the duration of the performance. Dry snacks and water are the only items allowed in backstage waiting areas. 

WHEN ARE REHEARSALS? Students learn and rehearse dances during their regular class time. There will be 3 IN HOUSE (AT SMDA) rehearsals: Saturday, May 31st for TWINKLE STAR DANCERS & 4-5yr TUMBLE ONLY, Saturday, June 14th for ages 6-18 only - 1-2:30pm for Shows A & D and 3-4:30pm for Shows B & C. A Tech and Dress Rehearsal will be held on Friday, June 20th for all classes ages 6 and up. (No Twinkle Star and Tumbling 4-5yrs are required to attend tech and dress rehearsals) Please refer to tech and dress rehearsal tab for details.

WHAT IS DRESS REHEARSAL? Dress rehearsal is a run-through of the entire show in FULL costume and make-up. We do a dress rehearsal to ensure no major issues were overlooked before the performance. We run this as close to the real show as possible, but if there are any major issues, we may stop to fix them. This is a great opportunity to practice any quick changes you might have. Dress Rehearsal is mandatory for all dancers EXCEPT dancers in our Twinkle Star Dance program and tumbling 4-5yrs.

WILL MY CHILD BE SAFE? Yes! Students check-in upon arrival and check out before they leave to go home. SMDA is looking for volunteers to help at the show. If you are interested in volunteering during the June Concert, please sign up here! 

HOW LONG IS THE RECITAL? Times will vary per show based upon music choice length - approximately one to one and a half hours with no intermission.

CAN PARENTS WATCH REHEARSALS? Dress Rehearsal will be a closed rehearsal and not held on Zoom. Parents are free to watch their child on the studio monitors during regular classes.

DO WE HAVE OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED CLASSES AT THE STUDIO DURING THE WEEK OF THE SHOW? Regular classes will be held Mon-Thurs. No classes Friday or Saturday. 

DOES MY DANCER PERFORM IN ALL SHOWS? Ages 2-6 (twinkle star dancers and tumbling 4-5yrs) are only in ONE show, please refer to the Show Order Page. All the other dancers (ages 6+) are in MULTIPLE shows. Our shows will be held on Saturday, June 21st, at 1:00pm & 6:00pm and Sunday, June 22nd, at 11:00am & 4:00pm at Lakewood High School. *The tech & dress rehearsal details will be announced once available. The call time for dancers is one hour prior to show start times.
