In a permit submittal, what does SMC Structural provide?

SMC Structural Engineering provides stamped and signed structural drawings and calculations. 

Check with your local building department for a full list of permit requirements for your project. Other trades such as architectural or civil engineering may also be needed to provide additional documents. 

SMC Structural only provides the structural portion of the permit submittal. 

Is SMC Structural available during construction?

Yes, SMC Structural Engineering is happy to quickly answer questions from your construction team and provide solutions for changes needed during construction. 

SMC Structural can make site visits to help resolve any construction-phase questions. 

How soon can I get my permit documents? 

For additions or remodels to existing homes, SMC Structural will make an initial site visit to observe the existing structure.  

From there, please expect 2 to 4 weeks for the structural permit documents depending on the extent and complexity of your project and the availability of coordination documents needed from other trades.

I am purchasing or recently purchased a home. Can I have SMC Structural take a look at it? 

Yes. SMC Structural is happy to review the structural integrity of your home with a site consultation including the observation of your foundation, crawlspace, and attic areas. SMC Structural will visually assess cracks, un-levelness, and any exposed framing for structural issues. 

A site consultation can also answer general questions of the structural impact of a future remodel or addition. 

Please note, structural observations are limited to what is visible and not covered by finishes.
