Parents,

We are excited about the school year with our new first graders! It is going to be a fantastic year!  Homework will begin Monday August 28th.  In your child’s take-home folder, known as the B.E.E. folder (Bring Everything Everyday), you will find a red Math book and a green Grammar book. This will be your child’s homework Monday-Thursday. Each day, the same lesson number will be completed in both books. For example, on Monday students will complete lesson one in both books and on Tuesday they will complete lesson two in both books.  Please only complete the one lesson each night (Mon.-Thurs.).  

Spelling will also be a part of homework and it will begin in September.  Additionally, students will complete a speed drill practicing their weekly high frequency words.  Parents please initial.   

In the back pocket of your child’s folder, you will find a Reading log for the month.  Students are required to read at least 10 minutes each night (Mon.-Thurs.) and fill in the log.  The log consists of recording the book title and number of minutes read.  Parents should initial in the column that corresponds with the method of reading:  read to child, read by child, read with child. This will stay in your child’s B.E.E. folder for the month.
