SMCPS National Board Certification Support
National Board Interest Sessions: Individuals who are interested in learning more about the National Board certification process for the academic year 2024-2025 are welcome to attend any of the upcoming information sessions. The sessions will be conducted by the NBCT Support Staff and will cover topics such as the registration process, financial and support incentives, and additional resources for further study. Benefits of National Board Certification
Did you know that as part of the Blueprint for Maryland's Future classroom teachers who have earned National Board Certification will receive salary enhancements? Learn more about other benefits of National Board Certification.
SMCPS provides $500 per successful completion of a component, totaling $2,000.
The Blueprint for Maryland's Future provides a $10,000 salary enhancement for some classroom teachers who hold NBCT.
SMCPS Blueprint Schools (GWCES, SRMS, GMHS) provides an additional $7,000 salary enhancement for some NBCT classroom teachers.
To receive the salary enhancement, classroom teachers must be assigned as the teacher of record, or co-teacher (including special education teacher, ESOL teacher, and ES Media specialist) for at least 60% of the day. The teacher of record delivers instruction and is responsible for a student’s or group of student's academic progress in a PreK-12 public school setting.
