For the best progress, students should spend 15-30 minutes reviewing and drilling on a DAILY basis
Routine for each exercise, to reinforce and play accurately:
STEP 1: Clap and count the rhythms; write the counts under the notes
STEP 2: Point to the notes and say the letter names out loud.
STEP 3: Finger the notes and say the letter names *in time*–don’t slow down or stop, hold the instrument in playing position
STEP 4: Airplay the exercise, saying letter names or fingerings (possible for some instruments)
STEP 5: Play the exercise until it is accurate, then play 5 times accurately. If you practice it incorrectly, that is how it will be learned!
Go through these steps every day for every exercise you practice. And, then, you’ll be awesome!!
Even if you don't have an instrument at home, you can work on clapping rhythms, air-playing on a pencil, or memorizing fingerings/note names.
