Application Process

In early February, any eligible* students with at least a 3.5 GPA for MP1 and MP2 will receive an email from one of our advisors, including application information. A letter does not guarantee membership, which is based on the four pillars of NHS: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. 

The student candidate will be eligible to apply based on the pillar of scholarship (the GPA will fulfill this).  The application next asks the student to provide evidence of three more pillars: involvement in the community (volunteer service hours), involvement at GMHS (clubs, sports, academics) and leadership.

This application, in addition to teacher recommendations (the pillar of character), is reviewed by a faculty council, and those students whose application is approved by the council are offered membership in the Great Mills Chapter of the National Honor Society.
