This program prepares students for various careers in welding. Students will receive instruction and training to safely develop necessary skills in Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Flux Core Arc Welding, Oxy-acetylene cutting, CNC Plasma arc cutting, and manual Plasma arc cutting. Additionally, students will receive instruction in computer-aided drafting, blueprint reading, job-seeking skills, resume writing skills, and related math. Students will also have the opportunity to fabricate various projects. This course is based on the national standards of the American Welding Society curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to take the American Welding Society welding certification test.
There are no prerequisites required for this program.
This class is a two-year program.
The number of periods required in a student's schedule to complete this program is as follows:
Year 1 = 2 periods
Year 2 = 3 periods
