This program is designed to prepare high school students for further education and careers in the education profession. It aligns with the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC). When students complete this program they will have the opportunity to take industry-recognized certification/credentialing exams and will complete a working portfolio of their experiences. The program sequences through three rigorous and college-level courses, and culminates in the Education Academy Internship class where students integrate content and pedagogical knowledge in an educational area of interest and take the opportunity to extend and apply their knowledge about teaching in a real classroom setting under the supervision of a mentor teacher. Students will sit for the ParaPro Assessment which qualifies them for higher paid paraprofessional positions.
There are no prerequisites required for this program.
This class is a two-year program.
The number of periods required in a student's schedule to complete this program is as follows:
Year 1 = 2 periods
Year 2 = 3 periods
