Program Visits are not required to apply to Forrest Center electives. You may join one of the IT Networking Academy program sessions below to meet Ms. Thompson and learn about Cybersecurity. Session #4 is will be for Cybersecurity Elective only information. High School counselors can answer any additional questions about electives.

This course offers students the fundamental principles of identifying security risks and implementing security controls. Completion of this course will also help students progress toward a career in IT security administration or other IT specialized fields. The content of this course includes: the essentials of network security, compliance and operational security; threats and vulnerabilities; application, data, and host security; access control; and cryptography. Additionally, students will learn through hands-on experiences and practical scenarios. The course content will prepare students to sit for the CompTIA Security+ certification.
This program requires students to complete IT Networking Academy I & II OR Computer Science or concurrent enrollment. Students who have completed IT Networking Academy I & II will automatically placed into Cybersecurity as IT Networking Academy III students.
This elective is a one year program.
The class requires two periods in a student's schedule.
