This intensive one-year program provides comprehensive training in emergency medical services (EMS), covering various critical areas such as rescue operations, medical emergencies, and vehicle extrication. As part of their training, students will be expected to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) daily and become an active member of a local rescue squad. Upon successfully completing the course, graduates will be well-prepared for various career paths, including but not limited to roles as an EMT, emergency room technician, surgical technician, contractual EMT for businesses, and more.
To apply for this program, students must be 16 years old by November 15th.
This intensive one-year program provides comprehensive training in fire and rescue, exposing students to all facets of the field, including live fire exercises, rescue operations, and vehicle extrication. Participants must wear uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) daily. It is also mandatory for the student to become an active member of a local firehouse. Upon successfully completing the program, students will be well-prepared for various career paths, including opportunities to volunteer with a fire company.
To apply for this program, students must be 16 years old by September 1st.
For those aspiring to become career firefighters, it is recommended to take the EMT course in 11th grade and the Fire/Rescue course in 12th grade. This sequence ensures the cross-training necessary for employment as a professional firefighter.
The number of periods required in a student's schedule to complete this program is as follows:
EMT = 2 periods
Fire Rescue = 3 periods
