After the original October 12th event was canceled due to inclement weather, Pride SoMD has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Lexington Manor Passive Park from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. “After the nor’easter tried to steal our sparkle, we’re back better than ever,” according to the Pride SoMD website.
This is the 8th annual Pride event for Southern Maryland. The first Southern Maryland Pride event was launched in 2017 by a small group of Calvert County youth to foster a sense of community for LGBTQ+ individuals living in Southern Maryland. Since this small gathering of around 50 people, the event has grown tremendously, increasing 30 times as much and now attracting over 1,500 participants each year.
According to the organizers, the theme for this year is “Existence is Resistance”-- a theme that reflects resilience and the importance of showing up for your community. This is a free, all-inclusive, family-friendly event. There will be food, vendors, a DJ, kids' zones, drag performances, a silent auction, and more. Dogs are welcome, and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket and chairs if they prefer a picnic-style seating.
The park gates will open at 11:00 a.m. on November 9. Attendees might want to arrive early to get a good spot. The website also recommends dressing in layers, as Maryland weather in mid-November can be brisk. Picnic tables are available, but attendees may want to bring a lawn blanket or a folding chair.
If you would like to be a vendor, sponsor, or volunteer, the deadline has been extended to October 31. This event is a volunteer-run non-profit, so all donations and sponsorships go directly back to the event.
